Abstract

1510394 Pipe union CRANE Ltd 27 Jan 1977 [31 Jan 1976] 03915/76 Heading F2G A pipe union comprises two metallic tubular elements 1 and 2 each formed to be connectible to a pipe end, the elements having mating surfaces 1B and 2B with sockets 1C and 2C, which are brought into alignment when the elements are co-axial, and which contains pins 7 of electrically insulating material, one tubular element 1 being formed with an external screw thread 3 and the other element 2 has a radially outwardly projecting flange 4 the outer diameter of which is less than the root diameter of the screw thread 3, a metallic connecting ring 5 with a radially inwardly projecting flange 6 and an internal screw thread and insulating gaskets 8 and 9 formed to fit between the faces 1B and 2B and between the flanges 4 and 6. The lines of juncture between the connecting ring and the elements may be coated with insulating material in paste or mastic form. These coatings 10 and the gaskets 8 and 9 prevent passage of electric current through the union.
