Abstract

1,223,932. Cartridge cases. GEVELOT S.A. 4 June, 1968 [5 June, 1967; 31 Oct., 1967], No. 26444/68. Heading F3A. A cartridge case comprises a tube 1 secured in a metal base 2 by a plastics wad 5 which has been deformed by compression so that one part drives out the end of the tube into an annular rim 9 whilst another part flows so that the wad assumes close contact with the tube along the entire length of the wad with the outer surface of a previously circumferentially extending protuberance 7 lying along the wall of the tube and compensating for the tendency of the surface of the wad to separate from the wall of the tube. The material of the plug can also be pressed into grooves (not shown) formed in the head or can be engaged by teeth (2 2 , Fig. 3) extending from the head.
