Abstract

122,220. Ainsworth, P., and Anderton, J. Dec. 29, 1917. Lap-forming apparatus.-One or more slivers are wound with a traverse upon the usual bobbin b, preferably provided with a loose tube or shell, by traversing the sliver instead of the bobbin. One or more sliver-guides h<1> are mounted in front of a pair of delivery rollers d, or in front of the receiving bobbin, upon a right and left handed screw e driven by a chain m<2> from the receiving bobbin. The slivers are drawn from cans and through apertures in a plate o by rollers o<2> driven from the rollers d and are passed over a table s which is sufficiently long to prevent any undue stretching of the slivers due to the action of the traversing guide.
