Abstract

1,221,872. Centrifugal blowers. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. March 7, 1968 [March 10, 1967], No.11127/68. Heading F1C. [Also in Divisions A4 and H2] In an electric vacuum cleaner (see Division A4) a motor comprises stator coils 22 arranged either side of a laminated rotor 20, the diameter of which exceeds its axial length and the outer periphery of which forms an impeller defined by blades 24. In operation, the impeller draws dust laden air through a suction slot 3 in a nozzle 1 and through a filter 18 arranged adjacent to impeller inlet openings 11 in the nozzle 1. The air is then directed by the impeller blades 24 through apertures 30 leading to one or more outlets 40 in the casing 34 of the cleaner.
