Abstract

1,221,037. Vices. L. F. BLATT. 21 Aug., 1969, No. 41672/69. Heading B3B. A vice comprises a fixed jaw 19 and a movable jaw 22 operable by a toggle linkage enclosed in a body (12) (Fig. 1, not shown). The linkage is operated by a clevis 17 which slides in guide grooves in the body (12) and which may be connected to a fluid pressure operated jack. The operating linkage comprises arms 18 which support the fixed jaw 19 and which are rigidly fixed within the body (12), together with a pivot link 30, by means of bolts 15, 16. The movable jaw 22 has supporting arms 21 which are pivotally connected to the pivot link 30. The arms 21 are pivoted by clamp arms 27 which are pivoted about bolt 15 and actuated, via links 23, by the clevis 17. The clamp arms 27 engage the movable jaw arms 21 by a pin 34 and slot 35 arrangement. The fixed jaw 19 may include gripping elements (20) (Fig. 4, not shown) to grip a workpiece (W).
