Abstract

The grab is particularly for loads in crushable packings, and comprises a fluid support and a movable clamping jaw. The two jaws of the grab are connected by a linkage to bring them closer when a lifting force is exerted. The linkage incorporates one or more toggle mechanisms, each with a lever (3, 3') rotating relative to the supporting jaw (2), and attached at one end to a link (6, 6') which operates the movable clamping jaw (1). The lifting force is applied to the other end of the lever, to move it past dead centre and lock the clamping jaw against the supporting jaw.
