Abstract

1,220,836. Timepieces. R. H. ERARD. May 21, 1968, No.24130/68. Heading G3T. A timepiece such as a wrist watch comprises a casing 7 in which are mounted the stem 10 and pinions 11, 12 of the winding and hands setting mechanism. The hands setting pinion 11 engages an intermediate wheel 3 which meshes with a minutes wheel whilst the winding pinion 12 meshes with a ratchet wheel 2. In the position of the crown 14 as shown, fluting 106 on the stem engages fluting on the pinion 12 so that rotation of the crown winds the watch. When the crown is pulled outwards fluting 10c on the stem engages fluting on the pinion 11 so that rotation of the crown sets the hands. The base -plate 1 of the watch movement has a cut awayportion (1b), Fig. (not shown), to accommodate the pinions and is of sufficient width, so that on insertion of the movement into the casing the wheels 2, 3 are not fouled by the pinions 11, 12. After insertion in the casing, the movement is rotated through a small angle to bring the wheels 2, 3 into engagement with the pinions 11, 12. A dial 15 holds the movement in the casing.
