Abstract

1,220,049. Safety devices for jib cranes. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU S.M. KOROW VEB. 30 Oct., 1969, No. 53226/69. Heading B8B. A protection circuit for a luffing jib crane (not shown) provided with a counterweight 15 movable between an operative and an inoperative position comprises a first counterweight switch 4 in series with a crane working load switch 2 in a first circuit branch, and a second counterweight switch 5 in series with a crane load moment switch 3 in a second circuit branch. The two circuit branches are in parallel with each other and in series with the windings of a relay 6 whose contacts control relays 7, 8, 9, 21 covering, respectively, loadlifting, jib luffing, telescopic jib extension and retraction and slueing circuits. When switch 4 is open switch 5 is closed and vice versa. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement where both switches 4, 5 are simultaneously operated by movement of a vertical plunger 17 responsive to the movement of the counterweight 15. Figs. 3, 4 (not shown) illustrate other, similar, arrangements. The relay 6 is thus controlled by the load moment switch 3 when the counterweight is operative and by the working load switch 2 when the counterweight 15 is inoperative. The circuit may be adapted to several counterweights, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown).
