Abstract

1,208,723. Printing processes. BAKER PERKINS Ltd. 2 Feb., 1968 [2 Nov., 1966], No. 49161/66. Heading B6C. Paper web C is moisturized prior to insetting in a printing press by feeding it over a roller B, which has moisturizing liquid applied to it in advance of its line of contact with the web C. Preferably water is applied to roller B by a train of rollers A, which have a variable speed to control the amount they apply, and the outer surface of web C is engaged by wind-up roller D. Pneumatic rams E press roller D against roller B, with a pressure which is increased or decreased according to signals from a moisture meter, and the speed of rollers A may also be controlled by the moisture meter.
