Abstract
1,204,707. 204,707. Photo-copying machines. PITNEYBOWES Inc. Aug.31, 1967 [Sept.2, 1966], No. 39900/67. Heading G2A. Photo-copying machines for producing single or multiple copies comprises an inlet slot defined by guide-members 37 and 35, sensing switch A for sensing the leading edge of an original to be copied roller pairs 44, 45, 74, and 84, 85 to advance the original through an irradiating station 13, a recycle gate 100 which in its operative position shown in Fig. 2 deflects the original around the arcuate guide-plate 105, a sensing switch 13 which causes the gating member 110 to be in the position shown in Fig. 5 when the trailing edge of the original is still in contact with switch A or to be in the position shown in Fig. 2 when then trailing edge of the original is not in contact with switch. When the gating member is as shown in Fig. 5 the original is recycled along a long path via guide plates 121 and 122 and between the nip of rollers 46, 45 and 45, 44 and when in the position as shown in Fig. 2 it is recircled along a shorter path length via guide-member 120 and between the nip of rollers 74, 75. According to the setting of a control the recycle member may be automatically moved to its inoperative position after a specified number of cycles thus permitting the original to be discharged from the apparatus on to discharge plate 90. The gating member 110 is operated by solenoid 160 via spring-biased armature 162 and link 161.
