Abstract

1,153,330. Feeding originals and copy sheets in electro-photographic apparatus. ADDRESSOGRAPH - MULTIGRAPH CORP. Sept. 2, 1966 [Sept. 9, 1965], No.39337/66. Heading G2H. An electro-photographic apparatus has a path for recycling an original to be copied the required number of times to produce multiple copies or single copies without recycling. Insertion of an original into the apparatus trips a lever 38 which actuates a switch 40 which causes feeding of a copy sheet from supply (16, Fig. 5, not shown). The copy sheet moves along a path (42) between a pair of drive rollers (44, 46) through a charging station (50) and then through an exposure station (52) in synchronism with an original moving through an illuminating station 48, Fig. 2. The original is then fed out of the machine through rollers 70 in the case of single copy production or is diverted by a movable gate 26 for multiple copies. The gate is actuated by a solenoid (116, Fig. 6, not shown) in a control circuit having a counting solenoid (158) which causes rotation of a ratchet wheel (154) upon each energization. The ratchet wheel (154) is preset by a knob (146) for the required number of copies. A locking mechanism (172) has an extension (174a) which prevents the knob (146) being rotated when the gate is in the return position Fig. 3 (not shown).
