1387840 Photocopying apparatus CANON K K 16 Feb 1972 [16 Feb 1971] 7165/72 Heading G2A In a photocopying apparatus where a sheet original is advanced by transport rollers 1, 4 past an exposure slit in accordance with the movement of the copying drum 9, provision is made for moving the entire casing 31 housing the transport rollers such that a thick original 35 may be progressed past the slit whilst supported on transparent plate 2 of the casing. The transport rollers are linked with the drum 9 through a drive chain Fig.2 (not shown) such that advancement of a thin original past the slit corresponds with the movement of the surface of the drum past the exposure position. The casing, 31, movable on roller track 33, is also linked to the drive chain via a free wheel device, Fig.2, such that the casing may be manually advanced past the slit at a speed corresponding to the movement of drum 9 but no faster. In an alternative form the casing may be selectively coupled to the drive chain for movement with the drive chain during exposure.
