Abstract
1352012 Photographic processing apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 6 May 1971 [6 May 1970] 13441/71 Heading G2X A photographic film 16 is processed by being guided into intimate surface engagement with a web 28 carrying a processing ingredient, a reciprocable mechanism 36 being operated either to cause the engagement or to allow the web and film to separate and follow spaced paths through the processing station 10. Mechanism 36 consists of a lever 38 carrying rollers 44, one of which co-operates with a back-up roller 46 to urge the film and web into pressure engagement. Other embodiments are described in which the reciprocable mechanism takes the form of two pairs of oppositely disposed rollers which move in a vertical direction towards and away from each other, Fig.5 (not shown); the upper and lower rollers may have an endless belt trained between them Fig.6 (not shown); a large heated or unheated back-up roller may be provided over which the film 16 is passed, the web 28 engaging the film by the provision of two spaced rollers mounted on lever arms Fig.7 (not shown); the film may pass over an arcuate support member, the web being pressed thereagainst by a roller mounted on a lever, Fig. 8 (not shown); and the embodiment of Fig.7 in which the levers supporting the spaced rollers are movable in a vertical direction as controlled by eccentric cranks driven by a pair of meshed drive gears. The apparatus permits preview of any portion of the processed film e.g. a predetermined exposure run before development of the entire film. Processing times may vary from one minute to 16 hours.
