Abstract

1,028,216. Film feeding. PAVELLE CORPORATION. Feb 5,1963 [Feb 5,1962], No. 4663/63. Heading G2A. [Also in Division B6] A means for feeding web material such as strip film comprises two members 20, 22 of resilient material such as rubber, each having a number of sloping vanes 16, 18 in contact with the strip 10 lying between them. If an impulse in the direction 40, towards the sheet, is repeatedly applied to one or both members, the vanes are alternately pressed together and then relaxed, and the strip 10 is moved in the direction of the arrow in a series of intermittent steps. If a series of such impulses is applied to member 20 at a number of different locations, and arranged to be out of phase with each other, a more rapid and almost continuous feeding movement is obtained. Fig. 4 shows the device applied to the feeding of a photographic film strip through two tanks 58, 60 of processing liquid. The strip passes into tank 58 between one pair of sloping vane members 78, 82 and out again between another pair. The two inner sets of vanes are secured to a series of flat drive sheets 90. These are operated by a motor-driven eccentric cam 100 to impart the necessary movement to the vanes. The film strip is then similarly passed through the other tank 60.
