Abstract

1,204,572. Printing surfaces. SCHNELLPRESSENFABRIK FRANKENTHAL ALBERT & CIE A.G. 29 May, 1968 [19 June, 1967], No. 25619/68. Heading B6C. Forme-bearing saddle 2 fits over two locating pins 3, projecting one behind the other from the surface of printing cylinder 1, and is held by engagement of eccentric-operated hooks 6 with co-operating abutments 5. Each hook 6 has a circular bore 24, which surrounds an eccentrically mounted spindle 7 with some free play, and is rotatable about the spindle 7, within limits imposed by a stop 25 on hook 6 and a projection 26 from the spindle 7 beside the hook 6. During attachment of a saddle the hook 7 first moves over abutment 5, turning with the spindle 7, then is drawn radially inwards by continued movement of the spindle 7. If the hook 7 does not engage abutment 5 correctly, but instead contacts its edge, premature engagement of stop 25 and projection 26 stops the operation before the spindle 7 has turned through its full normal travel. Within each hook 6 a spring 19 presses a movable plate 23 against the spindle 7. Two spindles 7, controlling hooks 6 engaging a single saddle, may be coupled by spur gears and rotated by a hand lever 14, click-stopped at the limits 16, 16<SP>1</SP> of its travel.
