Abstract

1,204,412. Bearings. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 1 April, 1969 [2 April, 19681, No. 15748/68. Heading F2A. [Also in Division H2] A bearing of a rotor of a rotary machine (e.g. a dynamo-electric machine) is protected from stationary vibration marking by providing an auxiliary electric motor having a rotor which is rotationally fast with the rotor of the machine, switching means being provided to cause the shaft to move when the machine is not in use. As illustrated a rotor shaft 1 of an induction motor is supported in roller bearings (not shown) and has a main rotor 2 provided with ventilation ducts 3 and conductors 4 connected to end rings 5. The main stator 6 is supported in a casing 7. A centrifugal cooling fan backplate 8 is secured to a ring 10 on the shaft and carries fan blades 11. The backplate serves as the rotor of the auxiliary motor.
