Abstract

1203811 Transferring developed images RANK XEROX Ltd 5 Oct 1967 [11 Oct 1966] 45378/67 Headings B6C and CA7 Background is reduced by applying to a developed image an electrostatic charge of a polarity opposite support, the particles in non- image areas remaining on the support. In another embodiment, the particles in non-image areas may be removed by a transfer step before transfer of the developed image to the final support (30) Fig. 7 (not shown) to that of the toner particles in image areas, so that toner particles in non- image areas i.e. those forming background become oppositely charged to those in image areas. Upon subsequent transfer of the developed image to a final support 24 only the particles in the image areas leave the image.
