In a variable stroke radial piston pump or motor, a cylinder block 5 rotates and the pistons 6 contact on truck surface within a frame 6 which is slidable or, as shown, pivotable about a pin 3 in a housing 4 to vary the stroke. A stop-ring 10 in the housing 4 has an annular flange or collar 11 that engages a circular bore or recess 13 in the frame 6 and thus limits the displacement of the frame. A further ring 14 is adjustable within a hole in the housing and limits the usual movement of the frame. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the stop-ring is provided on the frame and engages in a recess in the housing.
