Abstract

1,199,662. Knitting - machines. ELITEXZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI. 10 Feb., 1968, No. 6699/68. Heading D1C. Needle selection is achieved on a circular machine by pivoting jacks outwardly under the influence of a controlled electromagnet so as to cause the jack butts to engage the associated cam and thereby be raised to cause projection of the corresponding needles. The gap in the camway at the point of selection is of a width such that only one jack can be moved outwardly under the influence of the electromagnet at any one time, Fig. 4. The butts may engage the camway in either direction of movement in which case the gap may have edges sloping in either direction Fig. 5. Alternatively the jacks may be pivoted such that an upper butt is withdrawn from engagement with a camway leaving a lower butt uninfluenced to continue in a path in which it is subsequently elevated to raise the corresponding needle.
