Abstract

1,198,348. Injection moulding. SCHLOEMANN A.G. 15 July, 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 33631/68. Heading B5A. A two stage mould closing device for mould parts clamped between a fixed plate 1 and a plate 2 slidable on four rods 3 extending between the plate 1 and a fixed crosshead 10 includes fluid motors, not shown, for producing the major stroke of the plate 2 and an hydraulically actuated piston and cylinder 2<SP>1</SP>, 5 effecting the final mould closure. The latter stroke is effected when an extension 6 of the piston is locked to the crosshead 10 by pressure fluid actuated jaws 8 which clamp on to annular grooves 7 of the extension. An axially adjustable sleeve 9 on the crosshead provides a stop for the extension at the end of the major stroke and ensures that the jaws can extend into the grooves.
