Abstract
1,197,247. Steam-irons. JURA ELEKTROAPPARATE-FABRIKEN L. HENZIROHS A.G. 27 Sept., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 46077/68. Heading D1A. A flash boiler type steam iron, wherein the valve 8 controlling the flow of water from the reservoir 11 to the steam chamber 4 comprises a stem 10, provided with a stripper 10b to remove mineral deposits, and manually actuated by control lever 23, has control means operable by a weight 33 to move the valve stem so that the valve is closed when the iron rests on its heel and is open when the iron rests on its sole. As shown operating rod 18 has an extension 18a at one end engaging a bore 10c in stem 10 while at its upper end it engages one arm 21a of a pivoted spring 21 whose other arm 21b lies in the path of the pivoted spring biassed lever 23. Weight 33 is carried on a lever 30 pivoted to reservoir 11 whose other end engages valve stem 10.
