Abstract

281,211. BrodÚn, E. E. T. Sept. 7, 1927. Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves.- In a flushing valve of the diaphragm - actuated type set in operation by a push-actuated tilting auxiliary valve, the stem 11 of the auxiliary valve 9 is fitted with a sliding tube extension 10 and is adjustable by screwing in the valve head 9 so as to vary the length of the stem in relation to the push 12, 13 and thereby regulate the duration of the flushing. The diaphragm 1 is formed with a concentric corrugation to obtain a longer stroke and to avoid the risk of the diaphragm being held in an upper dead position. When the push 12, 13 is actuated the auxiliary valve is tilted open to release the fluid pressure above the diaphragm whereupon the inlet pressure at 5 opens the main valve 8. The lower end 1( of the stem, after the predetermined rise, leaves the push and tilting ceases, whereupon the auxiliary valve closes down and the main valve closes to stop the flushing. This closing action is not interfered with even though the push 12, 13 is held in since the sliding extension 10 of the stem 11, on contacting with the pushrod, would still allow the auxiliary valve to close. Subsequent release of the push 12, 13 would allow the extension 10 to slide down into position for the next flushing operation.
