1,195,470. Crank-case ventilation. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Nov. 15, 1968 [Nov. 18, 1967], No. 54353/68. Heading F1B. [Also in Division B2] The crank-case of an I.C. engine is vented, via a gear casing (11), Fig. 1 (not shown), through a cyclone air-oil separator 16, Fig. 2. The separated air passes through a dust filter 21 to an outlet 22, whereas the separated oil is returned to the crankcase via tubing 29 and a non-return valve 28. The latter is opened periodically under the weight of the oil column in tubing 29 and as a result of intermittent pressure reductions within the crank-case due to the piston movements.
