Abstract
1,195,379. Electro-plating with bright gold. SEL-REX CORP. Sept. 18, 1967 [Oct. 6, 1966], No. 42425/67. Heading C7B. Bright gold is electro-deposited from an aqueous alkaline solution of gold thiomalate containing a soluble arsenic compound. Typically the bath contains per litre 40 to 100g thiomalic acid (2- mercaptosuccinic acid), 25 to 60g of an alkali metal or ammonium hydroxide, 4 to 8g gold added as an alkali metal-gold thiomalate, and 10 to 120 mg of arsenic, e.g. added as oxide, chloride or sodium arsenite or arsenate, the pH is 10 to 11À5, the temperature is 24 to 82‹C. and the plating current density is 2 to 10 amps/sq.ft.
