Abstract
1,192,794. Deep-drawing steel; heat treatment. NIPPON KOKAN K.K. Sept. 8, 1967 [Sept. 10, 1966], No.41194/67. Headings C7A and C7D. A substantially non-ageing steel is obtained by vacuum degassing a low-carbon rimmed steel thereby reducing the carbon content to less than 0À02%, adding a carbide former in such amount that the solute carbon at the temperature of the later annealing step is less than 0À002%, forming the steel into cold-rolled sheets and annealing the latter at 700‹ C. to 950‹ C., optionally followed by a temper-rolling step. Prior to addition of the carbide former, such as titanium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, zirconium, hafnium or thorium the steel may be deoxidized, for example with aluminium; the carbide former may also be selected to have a denitrifying effect, e.g. titanium, or a separate denitrifying addition may be made at the same time.
