1,182,144. Ageing resistant steel. DORTMUNDHORDER HUTTENUNION A.G. Feb. 24, 1967 [Feb. 26, 1966; April 29, 1966; Oct.18, 1966], No.8998/67. Heading C7D. A deep drawing, ageing resistant, steel, suitable for single coat enamelling, is made from a steel melt containing Mn, 0, N, with maximum values of 0.035% S. 0.03%P and 0.1%C. by vacuum treating the melt to reduce the C content below 0.03%, adding Mu to give a content thereof of 0.28-0.45% and to combine with any residual oxygen and then adding up to 0.2hg/ton B or up to 0.8hg/ton A1 to combine with the free N and to impart ageing resistance to the steel poured from the melt. A gaseous or solid oxidizing agent (e. g. iron ore) may be added during the vacuum treatment to assist the decarburization.
