Abstract
1,191,359. Starting diesel engines. FIAT S.p.A. Nov. 18, 1968 [Nov. 29, 1967], No.54622/68. Heading F1B. A fuel-enriching device for assisting coldstarting of an I.C. engine is made operative by energizing an electromagnet, the energization being controlled by a manual switch connected in series with the starter switch of the engine so that when the manual switch is closed the electromagnet is energized when, and only when, the engine starter is operated. Movement of the fuel delivery adjusting member 18 of the fuel injection pump of a Diesel engine is limited during normal operation by the portion 13 of a stop 11. When the engine is started, an electromagnet 5 energized in parallel with the starter turns the stop 11 about its pivot 12 to present a recessed portion 14 towards the member 18 so that the fuel is enriched for starting. A manual switch in series with the electromagnet can be opened when enrichment of fuel during starting is not required.
