Abstract

1,190,793. Slip couplings; bearings. AUTOMOBILOVE ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK. 12 July, 1967 [13 July, 1966], No. 32093/67. Headings F2A and F2U. [Also in Division F1] An engine cooling fan 1 is driven by a shaft 7 through a slip coupling formed by tapered roller bearings 6. The degree of slip is controlled by the axial thrust exerted on the bearings by a liquid in a chamber 10, the thrust being transmitted via a plate 3 and a diaphragm 5. The thrust is varied by expansion and contraction of the liquid in accordance with the temperature of the air passing through the engine cooler. The minimum speed of the fan is pre-set by screws 4.
