Abstract
1281142 Hot gas engines KOMMANDITBOLAGET UNITED STIRLING (SWEDEN) AB & CO 31 March 1971 8747/71 Heading F1S In a device for governing the supply of fuel and combustion air to a hot gas engine in proportion to the engine load and in which the combustion air is delivered by a fan 18 driven from the output shaft 1 of the engine through a variable ratio transmission system 19 of which the ratio is governed in proportion to the engine torque, the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber of the engine by a piston type fuel pump 23, having one or more variable stroke pistons, the fuel pump being driven from the engine output shaft 1, and the effective length of the piston stroke or strokes is governed together with regulation of the mean effective pressure of the working gas in accordance with the desired engine torque. The piston 8 is acted on by gas supplied through a pipe 10 leading from a working gas chamber of the engine. A linear motor 11 receives electric current through an amplifier 13 regulated by temperature responsive elements 14, 15.
