Abstract
1300200 Hot gas engines UNITED STIRLING (SWEDEN) AB & CO KB 7 July 1971 31822/71 Heading F1S The invention relates to a Stirling cycle hot gas engine power control system in which one or more chambers 10,14,15,16 and 17 may be put into or out of communication with a working space 6 in the engine, the fuel supply to a burner 21 heating the engine working gas being governed by a temperature responsive device 22 to maintain a substantially constant temperature of the high temperature part of the engine. According to the invention an electric generator G is driven by the engine and the generator is connected in a circuit including a resistor R mounted in an air delivery duct leading combustion air to the burner. A speed responsive device GOV is provided for completing the circuit only if the engine speed exceeds a predetermined speed during idling of the engine. Thus a load will be put on the engine shaft and the speed of the engine will decrease.
