Abstract

1474124 Hot gas engines FORENADE FABRIKSVERKEN 6 Nov 1974 [13 Nov 1973] 48018/74 Heading F1S A fuel-air regulating system for hot gas engines, to maintain a substantially constant predetermined high temperature value between upper and lower limits includes a temperature sensor 5 adjacent the high-pressure working gas heater tubes 4 in a combustion chamber 1 and effective to open a switch 6 when, the working gas temperature exceeds a predetermined upper temperature value, to reduce the air and fuel supply, and to close the switch to increase the air and fuel supply when the temperature falls below a predetermined lower value. As shown the switch 6 is in circuit with a battery 7 and a solenoid 12 effective to open a valve 10 in the air supply duct 11 from a blower 8. The circuit also includes a magnetic valve 20 controlling a fuel by-pass in return line 18 to the tank 15 from an atomiser 16. The working gas may be helium or hydrogen. The regulating system therefore supplies fuel and air in amounts that either exceed what the engine requires at maximum delivered power or is less than the engine requires at idling.
