Abstract

1,188,621. Crank-case ventilation; treating charge. EATON, YALE & TOWNE Inc. May 14, 1968 [June 19, 1967], No.22912/68. Heading F1B. [Also in Division G3] A flow control device connected between the crank-case and inlet manifold of an I.C. engine to regulate the rate of crank-case ventilation in response to both the manifold depression and the crank-case pressure comprises a spring-loaded ball 94 mounted in the tapered flow passage 68 of a pipe 66 connected at 67, 70 to the manifold and crank-case respectively. The movement of the ball and spring during operation of the device renders it self-cleaning. Fig.6 (not shown) illustrates the operation of the device under varying engine conditions.
