Abstract
1,187,197. Winding bobbins. ATELIERS ROANNAIS DE CONSTRUCTIONS TEXTILES. 20 Sept., 1968 [21 Sept., 1967], No. 44860/68. Headings DID and D1J. Apparatus for driving the friction roll 3 of a drum winding machine comprises a drive shaft 1 on which the roll 3 is mounted to be rotatable and axially slidable, co-operating toothed annuli 6 of the shew-dog type on the roll and shaft and magnetic means such as a permanent magnet 10 on the shaft and a washer 7 on the roll for maintaining the annuli in contact. The roll can be declutched and linked by a fork comprising fingers 17a, 17b mounted on a square rod 16 slidable parallel to shaft 1. Rod 16 is biassed to the right by a spring 19 but is normally prevented from moving by a pin 21 thereon engaging in a slot in a lever 22 so that in normal operation fingers 17a, 17b have a small clearance from the end surfaces of the roll. Lever 22 is held in position by a linkage mechanism 24, 25, 28 which has a lever latch 24 engaging a notch 30 in a pivoted lever 31. Should a yarn break upstream of the take up package a stop motion causes an electromagnet 34 to be energised thus rotating lever 31 anticlockwise. This allows latch lever 24 to fall and therefore rod 16 to move to the right, the finger 17a engaging the end of the roll and moving the roll to separate the annuli 6 and move the other end of the roll into contact with a braking surface 37. To re-establish drive to the roll a cam 43 is operated by a handle 42c to lift lever 22 thus moving rod 16 to the left and re-engaging the annuli. Simultaneously the latch lever 24 is brought into engagement with notch 30 on lever 31 which has moved to the right under the influence of a spring 33, the electromagnet 34 having been de-energised by the restitution of the yarn upstream of the package.
