Abstract

1391424 Mounting rollers on shafts LANGLEY LONDON Ltd 2 June 1972 [4 June 1971] 19015/71 Heading F2U A roller 1 (e.g. a textile bowl), mountable on a shaft 6 comprises a shell 2 connected coaxially (e.g. by member 8 a radial wall at each end), to a sleeve 4 with a bore 5 to receive the shaft and having at least one end 7 deformable radially inwards to clamp the shaft (e.g. by a conical bore 9 in the member 8 as it is screwed at 10 into the shell 2 until a flange 11 abuts the shell). The other end of the roller may be identical or have an end member 8 whose bore is either welded or screwed on to the sleeve 4 until it abuts a ridge on the sleeve. The deformable end(s) of the sleeve 4 may have circumferentially spaced slits. The members 8 may be plastics mouldings and the shell 2 and sleeve 4 may be of metal or synthetic resin bonded paper material.
