Abstract

948,382. Bearings. APSLEY METAL PRODUCTS Ltd. April 24, 1962 [May 5, 1961], No. 16360/61. Heading F2A. A bearing for a rotatable spindle 21 comprises a bearing member, e.g. a bush 12, mounted in inherently-resilient support 1 having an external rib or groove 5 to engage a groove in an edge of a carrier element 6, in which the edge delimits a hole, or to engage the said edge, respectively, the support 1 having a rim portion 2 and a hub portion 3 interconnected by a diaphragm-like web portion 4, the rim portion 2 having the rib or groove, the hub portion 3 having a hole 11 for mounting the bearing bush 12. The rim portion 2 may be annular, the hub portion 3 being then generally cylindrical. The web portion 4 may be generally conical. The bearing may be an end bearing. The support 1 may be of rubber, polyvinyl, chloride or similar material. The bush 12 may be vulcanised into the support and may have a rib 15 or groove engaging a groove 14 or rib, respectively, in the hole 11. The bearing member may be a ball or roller-bearing unit.
