Abstract

1,183,102. Separating oil droplets from gas. T. Y. HEWLETT. 6 Feb., 1967, No.51715/69. Divided out of 1183101. Heading BIT. [Also in Divisions Fl and F4] An oil separator associated with an aspirating type burner assembly (see Division F4) and a rotary sliding vane compressor (see Division F1 in burner apparatus for domestic or commercial use, comprises an inner housing 54, Fig. 9, to which oil and air from the compressor is admitted through a pipe 21 and an outer housing 53 having an outlet 16 at its upper end through which compressed air passes to the burner and an outlet 52 at its lower end through which separated oil is returned to the oil reservoir of the compressor. The domed top of the inner housing reverses the flow direction of the air with the entrained oil, the air passes through radial ports 56 and a filter 58. Any oil that should pass through the ports 56 collects at the bottom of the separator between the housing and passes through ports 57.
