Abstract

1,238,843. Removing liquid particles from gas. LOCKER INDUSTRIES Ltd. 10 July, 1968 [15 July, 1967], No. 32647/67. Heading B1T. Gas containing liquid particles entering separator 1 by way of inlet 54 passes through a first coalescer 26 comprising glass fibres confined between perforated walls, and then through a second coalescer 28 comprising glass fibres of lesser mean density than than in 26, also confined between perforate walls and separated from first coalescer 26 by air space 30. Oil which collects drains at 56 and is removed through plug 38. Inlet 54 is adapted for fitting on a flue or exhaust; the concentric annular elements 26, 28 are sealed at each end by rings 34. The housing is formed by holes 50, 58 together by bracket 62 and nut 64. In Fig. 1 (not shown) the housing is closed except for an outlet pipe (36). In Fig. 3 (not shown), first coalescer (108) is cylindrical, gas passing from the outside to the inside thereof and thence to the second coalescer consisting of glass fibre pads (100, 102) separated by wire mesh screens (104, 106). The unit is mounted with its axis horizontal, gas entering past bracket (120), and leaving through (140).
