Abstract

1,181,656. Double glazing. K. R. DUNN. 9 May, 1967 [22 Feb., 1966], No. 7611/66. Heading E1R. An existing single glazed frame 1 with pane 2 can be converted into a double-glazed frame by a second pane 3 one corner of which is cut away and replaced by a plastics or metal corner piece 5 which incorporates a non-return valve 8 and the pane 3 with corner piece 5 is secured and sealed to the pane 2 or the frame 1 by an adhesive &c., and the space between the panes evacuated through the valve 8. Alternatively the valve 8 may be incorporated in the mounting frame 9, Fig. 4 constructed to receive both panes, the spacing means 10 being cut away at a corner locating the valve 8 so as to leave the valve in communication with the space between the panes, one of which, viz. 3 is of smaller dimensions than the other plane.
