Abstract

1,117,028. Double glazed unit. L. B. FARMILOE. 15 Dec., 1966 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 3921/66. Heading E1R. A double or multiglazed unit comprises between each pair of adjacent panes 2, 3 of glass, a tubular satin galvanised steel spacer 6 of substantially triangular section positioned with its apex pointing outwards and sealed in position to the panes by poly-isobutylene 8 and secured in a surrounding channelled section frame 9 by a second sealant such as polyisobutylene or a two-part polysulphide sealant. The core may contain a dessicant such as silica gel crystals, and accordingly the interior of the core is in communication with the space between the panes by a slit along the base of the core.
