Abstract

950,839. Double-glazed windows. S. J. PAYNE. Sept. 15, 1961 [June 17, 1960], No. 21297/60. Heading E1R. A double-glazed window comprises a frame 1 glazed with a permanent glass or plastics pane 2 and a more temporary pane 3 with a sealing member 4 around its periphery. An outlet valve 5 in the pane 3 enables the space between the panes to be exhausted by an air pump. The sealing member 4 may be adhesively secured to pane 3 and may be grooved or dimpled to exert a suction effect on pane 2 (Fig. 3, not shown) or suction domes or detachable buttons 7 may be provided to hold pane 3 in place while air exhaustion is being effected.
