1,180,665. Making caps for bottles. F. GRÍSCHEL. 15 May, 1967 [17 May, 1966], No. 22489/67. Heading B8T. Caps for bottles are formed by punching out a disc from a plate or strip of rigid material, e.g. plastics or metal, flanging the disc, for example on a mandrel, to form a lid, and heat-shrinking a plastics sleeve on to the rim of the lid. The sleeve blank may be cut from a strip of material, and may be of frusto-conical shape. When the cap has been formed, it is placed over a bottle neck which has already been stoppered, and heat is applied to the upper portion of the bottle to shrink the sleeve tightly on to the neck.
