Abstract

1,123,593. Making hollowware; stamping. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. 18 April, 1966 [28 May, 1965], No. 22765/65. Headings B3A and B3Q. [Also in Divisions B8 and F4] A container body formed with an annular bead 18 is engaged in a supporting tool 19 before a plastics end member 1 is inserted and a reciprocable tool 21 lowered to turn over the upper end of the body about a flange on the end member, thereby forming a gas-tight seal. The container body may be deep drawn or impact extruded from aluminium. The bead 18 may be flattened subsequently by applying pressure to the end member 1 after the tool 19 is removed.
