Abstract
1,179,822. Locomotives. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHœTTE WESTFALIA. 2 April, 1968 [17 Nov., 1967], No. 15776/68. Heading B7L. A self-propelled monorail vehicle comprises a pair of trolleys 13, Fig. 1, connected to a main frame 14, carrying a diesel engine 5, in a universally-articulated manner (not shown), such trolley having a pair of friction rollers 7a, 7b, Fig. 2, or 8a, 86, driven by hydraulic motors 9 supplied with pressure fluid from an hydraulic pump 6 driven by the engine 5, the rollers being mounted on rocking levers pivoted at 10 and engageable with the web of the monorail 1, and two pairs of idler wheels lla, llb and 12a, 12b engageable with the upper surfaces of the bottom flanges of the rail 1, the rollers being disposed between each pair of idler wheels and arranged so that the central radial plane of each friction roller intersects the rotational axes of the idler wheels.
