1489625 Suspended monorail conveyer systems BECORIT GRUBENAUSBAU GmbH 4 Nov 1974 [2 Nov 1973] 47654/74 Heading B7L A suspended monorail conveyer system includes a track comprising rails 1 arranged endto-end and connected by lower and upper rail joints 12-15 and 16-18, respectively, permitting articulation of adjacent rails about a horizontal axis 11, two or more adjacent rails having rack bars 2 along their lower edges with laterally presented teeth to provide increased traction on gradients. The first and last rack bars in a series may extend over a part only of a rail to avoid starting or terminating a rack at a rail joint. The rail vehicle comprises motors 3 driving wheels 6 engaging the rail web and pinions 8 engaging the two-sided rack. The pinions 8 are driven through magnetic clutches.
