Abstract

1,178,837. Acceleration switches. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 7 June, 1967 [15 July, 1966], No. 31877/66. Heading H1N. [Also in Division G4] A warning system for a road vehicle comprises an acceleration switch including a pendulum 1 movable from a rest position, as shown, on a predetermined deceleration to close contacts 8, 9 to energize a rear lamp 16, contacts 8, 9 being held closed by a portion 3 of the pendulum releasably engaging a cam surface 4c biased towards portion 3 by a spring 7. Surface 4c is provided on the armature 5 of an electromagnet 6 which is energized on closure of a switch 14 to release pendulum 1 to open contacts 8, 9, pendulum I returning to its rest position under an adjustable spring 10. Switch 14 is closed on depression of the accelerator pedal.
