Abstract

1480237 Emergency stop-gear J G GROUT 9 Sept 1974 39237/74 Heading F1K [Also in Division B7] An emergency switch is fitted in a vehicle to enable a passenger to immobilize the vehicle should the driver be incapacitated, the switch normally completing a circuit including the coil and distributer being movable to break this circuit and light the vehicle stop lights. A rocker switch 1 normally connects leads 9 and 10 to the coil and distributer through contact maker 4 and contacts 6. When the switch is reversed contact maker 4 moves from contacts 6 and a further maker 5 engages contacts 7 to complete a circuit including leads 11 to the vehicle stop lights. The switch is fitted to the dash panel in front of the passenger and written instructions, possibly luminous, may be provided.
