Abstract

The slow running jet of the carburettor is actuated by an electric solenoid (2) which is connected to a circuit with a warning light (8), a switch (9) and three additional switches (3), (4), (5) all in series. A fuse (7) and battery (6) completes the circuit. The switch (3) is closed only when the accelerator pedal is free. The switch (4) is closed only when the clutch pedal is free from the switch (5) is closed only when the engine is in gear. Thus the circuit is only closed when the vehicle is being decelerated with the engine acting as a brake, so that the solenoid (2) is energised to cut off the slow running jet and save fuel.
