Abstract

1,178,600. Non-woven fabric; paper. KALLE A.G. 31 Oct., 1967 [2 Nov., 1966], No. 49454/67. Headings D1R and D2B. Fibrous fleeces are reinforced by impregnation with a binder liquor including a defoaming agent removing excess binder and drying by a dielectric heating process. The process prevents migration of the binder or swelling of the fleece. The defoaming agent may be a higher aliphatic alcohol; e.g., butanol, isoamyl alcohol and ethyl hexanol; esters, e.g., of lauric and oleic acid with mono-or poly-hydric alcohols such as ethylene glycol and glycerol; and silicones. The defoaming agent can be diluted in gasoline or dispersed in water with emulsifying agents, e.g., sulphonates, before it is added to the binder liquor. The binder liquor can be latices or aqueous dispersions of natural or synthetic gums or resins, e.g., carboxylated butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer, polyvinyl acetate or polystyrene. The fleece can be made of natural, synthetic e.g. polyester, or inorganic fibres, or mixtures thereof by carding, air-laying or paper manufacturing techniques. The fleece can be needled or shrunk prior to impregnation.
