Abstract

1336059 Non-woven fabric PRODUITS CHIMIQUES PECHNEY-SAINT-GOBAIN 6 Oct 1971 [7 Oct 1970] 46520/71 Heading D2B A non-woven fabric is made by paper-making techniques from an aqueous dispersion of fibres containing unsaturated polyester particles having a particle size of 20 to 300Á and a softening point less than that of the fibres. The web formed after wet laying the fibrous dispersion is dried at a temperature sufficient to soften the polyester particles to act as a binding medium. The fibres may be natural, e.g. cellulosic pulp wool; and/or synthetic e.g. made from polyamides, polyesters, proteins e.g. casein, polyolefines, acrylic and modacrylic fibres, derivatives of formal and polyvinyl alcohol, copolymers of vinyl chloride with vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride, rayon or cellulose esters; or mineral e.g. asbestos, glass. A surface active agent e.g. a benzalkonium chloride, or polyvinyl alcohol may be used in the preparation of the dispersion.
