Abstract

1,171,267. Non-woven fabrics. CARL FREUDENBERG. 5 Sept., 1968 [26 Sept., 1967], No. 42334/68. Heading D1R. A non-woven fabric is made by impregnating a fleece with a coagulatable binder and coagulating the binder by heating the fabric in contact with a flame. The flame does not scorch the fabric. The binder is then vulcanised. The flame temperature may be 700- 1400‹C. The fabric may contact the flame for 0.1-10 secs. After coagulation the fabric can be squeezed and dried. The fleece may be formed by carding and needling nylon, rayon and wool fibres. The binder may be a polyacrylate latex.
